Run: 5h 16m (38.8 miles) | Cross Train: 3h 53m | Gym: 0h 00m
This has been a properly mixed endurance week: nearly 39 miles of running, close to four hours of cycling and swimming, and several sessions where the intensity has moved beyond easy aerobic work.
Tuesday’s session also included plenty of pace variation and a high heart-rate load, making it a quality day rather than straightforward steady running.
Thursday provided the main sustained running effort, with 6 mile tempo run, averaging 6.39 per mile. The weekend was much more triathlon-specific, with two brick sessions. Saturday’s hour on the indoor bike was followed by a 2.8-mile run, while Sunday’s 1:26 bike ride was followed by 4.6 miles of running at a decent 6:52 per mile pace.
Overall, this week has delivered plenty of aerobic volume, some faster running and deliberate practice running off the bike as the 70.3 gets closer.
